Rêverie Duo is an acoustic duo – guitarist Valerio Daniele guitar and cellist Redi Hasa – whose music is largely drawn from natural and ‘atavistic’ influences. The recordings on ‘Stagioni’ were made in the atmospheric environment of a fifteenth century chapel; listening to the music it is not difficult to share the mood of such a venue.
Valerio Daniele and Redi Hasa consciously seek to create music in what they refer to as “a non-definable zone between genres”. They go on to say “The music tends to be resonant and reverberating, independent from any genre polarization. It moves in a vacant territory, which the duo tries to fill with spirals, cycles and imaginary memories. The harmonies lead to the dream and to irrational perception by blurring the real images to make them natural.”

“While the melodies seem to come from a more folk-like side, the music falls somewhere between jazz and modern classical. On “Il Ritorno” it sounds as if Valerio is using an e-bow on his acoustic guitar to get the strings to hum. Similar to the way Elliott Sharp or Paolo Angelini manipulate their acoustic guitars. Those buzzing strings are somewhat eerie. Redi Hasa bows most intensely for the last part of this piece, sounding as if the strings are about to erupt into a volcanic conclusion. The duo’s name, “Reverie” is also a piece with an exquisite melody that recalls the golden days of Oregon or the Paul Winter Consort, those seminal acoustic avant/jazz ensembles with unique ethnic influences and instrumentation. Each piece is enchanting since of musician has found the right amount of inside and outside, warm and cool, complex and melodic streams.
