The Anglo-Argentine Jazz Quartet, which pairs Argentines Pablo Ledesma (soprano/alto saxes) and Mono Hurtado (bass) with saxophonist George Haslam and drummer Paul Hession. Recorded in concert by Dill Katz at the Red Rose Club, London, 25 March 2001.

They are joined by guests Lol Coxhill, Elton Dean, John Edwards and Lukax Santana on track 5, to form an octet on the epic 29 minute improvisation “Impetuosity of Youth”.

Pablo Ledesma: soprano and alto saxophones
George Haslam: baritone saxophone, tarogato
Mono Hurtado: double bass
Paul Hession: drums

Plus on track 5: Lol Coxhill (soprano saxophone), Elton Dean (straight alto saxophone, saxello), John Edwards (double bass), Lukax Santana (percussion)

“The final configuration explodes periodically into massive energy that compares to Dunmall’s Octet and even Tippett’s large ensembles. This is an excellent place for the adventurous listener to start with the SLAM label and is highly recommended.” – Fred Barrett, Beyond Coltrane
